The Liebster Award!

I have been nominated for the Liebster Award by Kim Jarvis, of School SLP! The Liebster Award is an award given by current bloggers, to new bloggers with less than 200 email followers. The goal is to help them get their blog started and welcome them to the blogosphere. Anyone who is nominated is then asked to nominate others. To accept the award, the blogger must answer 11 questions posed by the blogger who nominated them.

1. Why and how long ago did you start blogging?
I started my blogging journey in January of 2014. My first posts were about my first year as an SLPA. I started blogging because it was in a way like a journal. This was a good place to keep track and remember all the things that we have done in speech. It also opened my creativity to make products for my bilingual students. I was so inspired by so many speech bloggers with all their cute products and posts. I wanted my students to have cute activities/games/etc as well.

2. What one word sums up the heart of the blog and why?

Passion: I absolutely love what I do. I wake up every morning and I am so grateful and blessed to be in the position that I am in. I am excited to continue my education and by the grace of God will hopefully become a certified Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist someday. I hope this blog is a reflection of my love for speech therapy and the desire to help.

3. Is there something that you learned late in your blog journey that you wished you had known before?

Yes! I learned that its better to plan your posts ahead of time and that you can schedule them to post on their own! I learned that very late in my blogger journey! Thanks to reading other blogs and ideas, I learned how to keep my blog up to date as much as possible.

4. What is your favorite pastime other than blogging?
Reading and Dancing. I love to bury myself in a good book. I love hoe your imagination can take you almost anywhere. My favorite book series to this day have been the Harry Potter Series! I love those books. When I was younger and reading them daily, I wanted to go to Hogwarts.  I also love to dance. Salsa, Zumba, pop, hip hop, tejano, cumbias, bachata.. the list goes on. I absolutely love to dance. Plus its also a great workout! lol

5. How many hours per week do you dedicate to your blog?

Not as much as I would like. I recently started updating my blog at least 2 times a month. I am working really hard to get better at at least posting once or twice a week :)

6. What category of blog posts do you enjoy the most?

Of course I love any post that has to deal with bilingual students and or speech therapy in Spanish. I really love blog posts that target social skills/ACC devices for non verbal students. I am a proud sister to two brothers with Autism and I love seeing all these different activities that I can share with them and also my students.

7. Where does your blog inspiration come from?

My inspiration for my blog came from my students. I loved seeing all these activities and supplements that targeted different aspects of speech therapy...in English. I would use some of these activities and simply translate them in Spanish. Sometimes they would not carry over as easily. That inspired me to start a blog and a TPT store. I love my students and I wanted to have materials that had a theme, certain character, book companions etc that they could read/interact/relate to :)

8. What post have you written that you are most proud of?

I guess the post I am most proud of is my Batman Post. This was the product that started it all. It started my blog, my whole creativity process. It was so hard for my to post it because I felt it still wasn't perfect, it could be better. Its specific to 2 sounds (k/g). I am planning on doing a series of superheros targeting different sounds.

9. Is there any post that you have been planning to do but keep postponing?

EVERYTHING LOL. Yes there are tons of products that I have been creating but get held up because of other issues (personal, work and family,) that have made these last couple of months a little crazy. But I have lots of ideas and things in the works. I appreciate everyone who follows me and requests things that they would like to see because it really does help me to understand and see what exactly is needed.

10. What is your favorite aspect of blogging?
I love interacting with all the speech therapy bloggers. I have learned so much from them! Not just how to be a better therapist, but how to make therapy fun and interesting and creative!

11. What recipe, project, or idea on my blog would you most like to try yourself?

I would love to try the book companion for Dragon Loves Tacos. I love this story and I think my students will enjoy it as well!!.

A huge thank you to Kim for nominating me! Here is my nomination for the Liebster Award...

New Year 2015

Happy New Year Everyone! I know this is very late! I have been head over heels bombarded with plenty of things this year! Just think, it's only the beginning! I have made several resolutions for this year, not just personally but also for speech therapy and my blog!

Here Goes!

1. Be Healthy
This is my biggest and hardest obstacle! I love food All types of food!!  I love to cook as well! This is something not a lot of people know about me! Yes I have put on a couple of "married" lbs but I have managed to stay active lol. But this also includes me not sneaking chocolate (my true weakness) or those goldfish crackers/fruit snacks when I work with my kiddos. Also just staying active. My puppy helps me in this department. She is full of energy and loves when we go on walks/runs!  Pretty soon she will be my trainer pulling me around instead of me guiding her :)

2. Plan Ahead
I have been lacking in this department in regards to my blog and TPT products. I have started so many projects and have so many ideas that I cant keep up! LoL But I have a planner that is specifically just for blogging so I am hoping that this year will be better!

3. Spend more time enjoying those around me
Spending more time with my husband, family, friends,

Well these are my resolutions! I think 3 is a good number to start with and hopefully I can keep them up all year round!
