This year, my fluency caseload has increased....well actually, I finally have several students with fluency goals! I must admit I was so nervous that I would not do a great job! Thanks to this fluency seminar I attended over the summer, The Stuttering Foundation, Fluency Friday, and other SLP's and their blogs, I think I am prepared and hope my students are excited for our upcoming speech activities! Here are a few things we have done so far! (This student has disfluencies in Spanish)

Speech Buddies....My Big Helpers! 9/23/13
Last year, I was introduced to Speech Buddies, and let me tell you, they do come in handy! My kiddos use these when they are really struggling/ or just need a reminder of where their articulators should go. The speech buddy tool that I have been using quite a bit has been the /R/ speech buddy. My kiddos really feel like it helps them. We isolate the sound first, then practice saying the sound with both short and long vowels. I have had several students really improve with the help of these materials!

Vamos a la escuela! 9/16
Back To School! This week the little ones worked on categorization! Today's book was called "Carlos Va A La Escuela." The cards were from the supplemental worksheets that came with the story which can be found in English at www.readingaz.com . Today's lesson was what are things we put in our backpack for school! The backpack blank printable can be found here
The kiddos had a great time! This particular backpack was my favorite because my student provided a good argument on why he/she could bring their dog in their backpack! It was too cute!
SPEECH ROOM 9/1/13
So after a complete hiatus, I finally have some free time to update my blog!! Yay Me! lol As my second year as an SLPA, I get so excited to reorganize my speech room! We moved to a new room this year with tons of more space! I think I was able to decorate it a bit more kid friendly! I am so excited for this upcoming year!
